It's worth noting that it's too often the case that people with different fetishes and atypical sexual proclivities appear to hurt their self-esteem to a degree. This decreased level of self-esteem can be attributed to the atypical sexual behaviour in question being perceived by society as perverse, perverted, sick, or sexually deviant, at least in some respect. Nobody benefits from the social rejection that is for sure. Worse yet, there is also a real risk that the atypical individual will suffer harm to their self-concept by taking the view that they are true, as individuals, flawed, abnormal, sick and wholly unattractive. Needless to say, these aren't the kinds of views towards one that could be considered conducive to maintaining a healthy psychological sense of well-being continuously.
